Another One Bolted
This week has been an interesting one for me. I have had a couple of opportunities to pray with people in the marketplace. Let me share one of the stories now…
My first encounter with this was with a woman limping to her car. I was getting out of my vehicle in a parking lot and saw her pass in front of me. I got out of my vehicle and walked up behind her. I said, “You don’t look like you’re doing very well!” She said, “No! My foot is hurting so bad…”
She had stopped to see who was talking to her and I introduced myself. I told her I was a Pastor and would love to show her the Power of God.
“Can I pray for you?”
She said, “Yes you can”.
After hearing it was her left foot, I asked her, “Who is the male in your life that you are carrying a burden for?”
My husband. He’s an alcoholic.
“Well, your foot is telling me, it can’t take the burden any longer”. And of course, she knew what I was telling her was right. Like most woman, they feel it is there ‘right’ to worry about others in their lives, especially their family members. Yet the Bible tells us just the opposite.
“Do not worry!”
“Do not walk in fear!”
“Do not strive!”
“Set your cares on the Lord!”
You know, those ones…
So after talking with her for a minute, I said, “Let’s experiment with God” Why don’t you ask Him to forgive you for worrying about your husband instead of praying and trusting Him?”
She looked at me and still I could see her thinking, “But you don’t know my husband!”
Still, she said, “Lord, will you forgive me for worrying about my husband and all the other things I worry about?”
I knew she wasn’t believing or asking Jesus to forgive her with any real conviction.
Then the Lord told me she was guilty of having an abortion. Oh…
“Have you had an abortion?”
She looked up at me and said, “Yes. Years ago. It’s left a hole in me.”
(If you want to learn more about abortions and what God does with the baby’s read my post, “God doesn’t lose babies”)
I took her through confession and forgiveness with the Lord and knew God had led me to pray with her over the murder of her child. Honestly, she was a mess. And then all of the sudden she said, “I have to go!”
Another one bolted!
Why? I always wonder why someone would be having an encounter with God in a parking lot and then bolt. And the Lord always reminds me their sin rose up and got the person out of there before they lost their home. The home He was talking about was within the person.
There is no way I can remember all the times people have bolted from church when the presence of God shows up. Or when they are about to be healed in the marketplace. So many have lost their opportunity to be touched by Jesus or God or Holy Spirit. The Lovers of their Souls.
I left the store and got into my vehicle. I thanked God that He gave her the opportunity to have someone deal with her abortion. They are a death wish to getting into Heaven. Yet, Jesus will always offer forgiveness if the person confesses it to someone and receives prayer. She now has a chance of making it into Heaven at her death.
You never know who you are walking near when you go out into the world. Everyone is struggling with something. Each of us have opportunities presented from above to minister a word into others. Even if it’s only a simple statement such as, “I hope you are blessed of God today!”
Go be Jesus today. Don’t let another day go by without looking for your next Kingdom Appointment
