Once Saved Always Saved
Just because you may have been taught “Once saved, always saved!”, doesn’t mean it’s true. In fact, you won’t find any scriptures which actually say this.
Jesus will tell one of His, “I will never leave You, nor forsake you!” That’s absolutely an amazing guarantee of His love for you. Does that mean you can’t lose your Salvation? Absolutely not. That isn’t what He is saying at all.
Here are five ways someone who calls themselves a Christian could find themselves locked out of Heaven:
#1 The practicing sinner
Let’s begin with the “Christian” who flat out refuses to turn from their sin. That same little word, “sin”, which Jesus went to the Cross for. To call yourself a Christian and then continue sinning before God is a death wish. God is not mocked by our actions against His commandments found in the Word of God. In fact, God takes what His Son Jesus did for us very seriously. Do not think for a moment God will allow His Son to go through being hanged again for the issue of sin.
Let’s begin by looking at a very interesting set of verses found in 1st Corinthians. This is a list of sins for which the practicing person will not make it into Heaven:
1Cor 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
1Cor 6:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
1Cor 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
When one looks at the church body today there is an infection from within and it’s called sin. Truly, many seats in churches are full of fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, those that covet, drunkards, those that revile others, even those who extort others for gain.
Just know I love the sinner and so does God. He put this list out there for us to be a glaring reminder of how serious He is towards our lives.
It is Gods desire that all men would be saved. Yet, He knows multitudes will stay bound to their sin because they either don’t know the Truth or don’t care. For those who walk cleanly before God, they should be praying for the lost daily.
#2 The spiritually blind believer
Then there is the Christian who is blinded to their sin. This believer is the one that every church has one or more of. They serve faithfully. They teach Bible studies. They vacuum the church before and after the services. They tithe faithfully. Maybe even serving in the church body as a deacon or in another capacity. This person is always cheerful and glad to be a doer, but never realizing they never invited Jesus into their heart. Often their works will keep them blind from accepting the Truth; Jesus.
Church for this person is more of a social place then a sanctuary to be hidden away in Christ. They have friends and people who love them unconditionally. What grieves me is that church body doesn’t recognize the person isn’t saved; including their Pastor. And the churches today are full of these people.
This is the person who someday will stand before Jesus;
Matt 7:23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Why would Jesus tell a person they practiced lawlessness? When a person doesn’t know Christ personally, they are bound under the Law of God. If they have sinned once, they are bound to all of them. Without forgiveness for every law broken, there is no Salvation. Just know it’s impossible to get through life without breaking Gods laws.
Jas 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one [point,] he is guilty of all.
God is a Judge. Just like an earthly judge, our ignorance of the law will only speed up our judgment. We will be found guilty as there is no excuse for not knowing Gods Precepts.
…
When I walk into a church and see people sitting in the chairs and notice there is no Light in them, it grieves my heart. These people sit in multitudes of churches around the world. Right under the noses of many Pastors. They are dead men walking and worse are headed to Hell.
..
My Assoc Pastor stood in the Courtroom of Heaven recently and saw a local church Pastor standing next to a man who had just died. The man stood before Jesus in chains. He cried out, “Why didn’t he tell me about You!” Yes Pastors… It’s a huge responsibility to serve Christ. Do it with fear and trembling.
Meanwhile, churches are full of spiritually blind sheep who think they’re saved when they aren’t. The Spirit of Jesus must be invited into us. He must reside on His Throne in our spiritual hearts or there is no Salvation.
When Jesus is invited into a persons heart, He literally steps into that person and His Light illuminates the person. That Light is visible to many people. Jesus is the LIGHT. You should see the Light of Christ in a persons eyes. You should see a countenance change in a new Believer. You should see fruit of the Holy Spirit exuded from that person.
A true believer who has Christ is going to love others. Even love himself. How can a person be saved and hate others? How can a person hate themselves and be saved? Jesus came to save and deliver us from our sin. If the sin is still within, there is a work that still needs to be done.
This is why Paul taught, “Work out your Salvation with fear and trembling”
Surely if this is you… A person who really has never asked Jesus to take over your life. Go to someone who is a sold out Christian and confess your sin to them. Then have them hear you pray, asking Jesus to come into your heart. Go!
#3 The One that turned away
I run into many Believers who have turned away from their first Love. “I just don’t hear Him. I’m not sure I’m even saved. I don’t go to church anymore. I don’t like the people there.” Wow…
Truly, nobody knows how to love us more the Jesus. When we offer our hearts to Him as a bride would to her groom, we are making a commitment to Him and He will make Himself known to us. He also makes a commitment to us as a Groom.
Deut 31:8 “And the LORD, He [is] the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
He won’t leave us!
He won’t forsake us!
But we can leave Him
And we can forsake Him…
After Satan loses one of his own to Jesus, don’t think for a moment the battle won’t be on for him to get the child back.
God made a promise! I don’t leave you. I won’t forsake you!
But the devil is relentless in pursuit of us. You will have demons speaking into your mind saying things such as;
“Oh, when is this service going to be over…”
“God isn’t going to take care of my needs”
“I hate so and so sitting up front. She thinks she’s so awesome!”
“How am I going to pay my rent this month. I better panic.”
“Why is my husband such a jerk?”
“I can’t believe so and so said that to me. I want out of this place”
“The people here are such hypocrites”
You should note these statements are all spoken in first person. Another words, the devil will speak to you as if the thought you just heard is your own. As humans, we often never give a thought as to where the thought came from.
Yet, Paul taught us to cast down vain imaginations. If you heard something that Jesus wouldn’t say, know it isn’t you or Him. It’s a vain imagination. Cast it down!
Just because a person says, “I do!” doesn’t mean the person will end up married. There is work to build a relationship with the Groom (Jesus) before the marriage. If you are lukewarm in your walk with Jesus, you are in a terrible place right now. Go confess your sin to someone and turn back!
#4 The one who blasphemed Holy Spirit
Matt 12:31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy [against] the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
Matt 12:32 “Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the [age] to come.
In Heaven, there is a wonderful Family. A family so incredible it’s almost impossible to describe. The Father is God Himself. Oh, He is so Glorious and Majestic! Powerful, Mighty, Beautiful. Our Creator. The Lover of our souls.
You might be interested knowing God has a Son. His Name is Jesus and to know Him personally is a Wow! I’m talking about really knowing Him. Being able to hear His voice. Knowing He is with you always. In you. Filling all the empty places in your life. Oh…
Then there is the one who is kind of quietly working in the background. Holy Spirit. Quiet. Unassuming. Yet, Creative and Powerful. Knows what needs to be done at a moment’s notice in our lives. Let me show you what the Word of God says about Holy Spirit:
Mark 13:11 “But when they arrest [you] and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit will speak for us…
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said to her, “[The] Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
When we receive Holy Spirit, we are overshadowed by the Power of God
Luke 4:1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness
We are led through this life by Holy Spirit, even if it means going through a wilderness experience again.
Luke 11:13 “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will [your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
God will give us Holy Spirit as a gift, but we have to ask. We have to want the Spirit. This give is not a given as is often taught.
Luke 12:12 “For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”
Holy Spirit is a teacher.
John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Holy Spirit is our helper
Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
With Holy Spirit comes the Power of God; as a witness to the lost.
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
With Holy Spirit comes the gift of Tongues; possibly other gifts.
Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:
Holy Spirit gives us boldness to proclaim the unseen. Jesus. God. Heaven. Salvation.
You might be interested to know Holy Spirit is covered with Fire. So Glorious. Holy Spirit wants to co-labor with you. Leading you through a life of adventure.
Now, why would a person who speaks against Holy Spirit be condemned by God?
Before I tell you why, I want to build a bigger picture for you. If you grew up in a family with a loving Father and Mother, you will better understand what I’m about to teach you.
If you were with friends and one of them said something derogatory against your Mother, how would you respond? If a co-worker made some comment against you and your mother, how would you respond?
In America, maybe other countries, we don’t tolerate someone speaking against our mothers. If you hate your mother, you may not be able to relate to what I’m about to teach you.
I look to Holy Spirit as being the Female type of God. I’m not saying Holy Spirit is a Female. Yet, she could be. I just don’t know.
What I am saying, is Jesus looks at Holy Spirit the same way I would look at my own mother. If someone came in the church and blasphemed my mother, I wouldn’t tolerate it. Nor does Jesus. Nor does God.
Making statements against Holy Spirit is a death wish. There is with it a promise from God. There will be no forgiveness nor fix for that person.
Careful what you say…
#5 The Lukewarm Believer
In the Scriptures, we find an interesting verse. Let me show you which one:
Rev 3:15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
We are now moving into a time in history where the Prophetic words found in the book of Revelation are coming alive. Jesus is now speaking to the seven churches. But the church can’t hear Him.
I can tell you this for sure. 2018 is the year that Jesus begins spitting out the lukewarm. You may think I don’t know what I’m talking about. Change your thinking.
God has had enough! He’s watched his Prophets, Pastors, Apostles plead with the Body to come alive, yet they have decided to slumber. In many churches around America, the Pastors have taught the people to go home and pack their bags and prepare for the Rapture. The people listened and did just that. I see posts all over Facebook and Twitter about being full and happy; waiting on the Rapture to take place.
Yet this is not at all what the Bible teaches us to be doing. We are to be going about and doing the work of Christ until His coming. We are to keep our lamps full of the oil of the Spirit.
I want to give you a warning. If you are doing nothing as part of your Salvation, do not think for a moment that you are in a safe place with God. You aren’t. The Creator of all never made this thing called Christianity a club or some organization. It is a Body of people who have a destiny in Christ. God has warned many prior to our generations. And He is doing again in this hour. Get up! Get going! Do something to change the hearts of the Lost towards Christ. More then anything; fear God!
“Oh, I don’t like that!” That’s nice…
Maybe you haven’t ever given your life to Christ Jesus. Oh! What in the world are you waiting for? Jesus is the most awesome Person. He will become your best friend! When you receive Him into your life, you will know it. He doesn’t move into you and leave you void. NO! Instead, He takes away that void. That empty place in your heart.
Why don’t you make a decision right now to accept the greatest gift a man could be given; Jesus
Please…
Take your hands and open the doors over your heart, right now.
Swing wide the doors and say, “Oh God! I need to be forgiven of my sin. I need to be Saved. I believe Jesus is Your Son and He did come to the Earth and die for my sins. I know I’m lost right now but want to be saved. Jesus! Step into me. Take over my life. I am giving you my life now!”
If you have really prayed this prayer, you should feel different. You can’t stay the same when the Spirit Jesus steps into you.
If you are serious and have said this prayer, you will feel a presence of God in you. It’s Jesus. You’re saved! Hallelujah! Now go tell someone! Get into a Bible teaching church that has people who love each other.
And please… don’t become one of the three above. You don’t want to miss Heaven. It’s over the top…
With love for your life
Pastor Jeff Mauer
