No Lone Islands
Dear Christian…
In the years I have been a Pastor I continue to notice a trend in the lives of believers and followers of Christ. There tends to be a consistent error in letting others know when you’re being attacked with sickness, disease, distress and torments.
What bothers me is I know that the things you are struggling with aren’t even yours… They are works of darkness manifesting in you.
Paul made a Truth very clear in the Word of God… Let me show you.
Eph 6:12
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the heavenly [places.]
So, let me make this as clear as I can… If you are not wrestling with your flesh when your sick, what are you wrestling with?
Didn’t people walk up to Jesus and confess their sin to Him? And didn’t He, by a word, set them free of their sickness and disease?
What makes you think it’s ok to do this thing on your own? Are you some martyr for Christ? Are you a shining example to the world that your struggles are yours alone? No!
But is it also possible your sickness, disease, torment isn’t quite what you think it is?
Beloved of God, listen to me. When you are struggling with anything… Be it depression, discouragement, fear, sickness, disease, is it possible you aren’t wrestling with your flesh? That’s what Paul told us. And truly, what he said is true.
When I lay hands on people for their healing, I don’t wrestle with the person I’m laying hands on. I am wrestling with the sin in that person. It’s alive. It’s a living spirit. And often I take a beating along the way. So did Jesus. Hence, this is why He often retreated to the mountain to be with God and receive His restoration.
Most Christians make terrible followers of the Word when they choose to be a lone island. Not only are Christians called to walk in righteousness and run into the Strong tower of Christ, we are told over and over again to walk together in our struggles.
Maybe you know why this affliction has come your way and you don’t want to share it with anyone. Then you’re stuck. And know this… The devil loves it!
To walk alone with Jesus, you are breaching the Word of God. You are putting up a fist against God and Heaven and saying, “I will do this on my own!” Let me know how that works out for you. Just know you won’t get much of a response from Heaven.
In James 5, we find the Scriptures teaching us to call the Elders when we are struggling with sickness. That we should be anointed with oil. Then we should receive prayer from them, so that we may be healed.
The greatest successes I have found in my ministry is when the people believe the Word of God and are doers of the Word.
When the people cast down all doubting and unbelief and take a stand against the devil.
Righteousness means you have to live your life rightly before a most Majestic God who requires us to live the way He has commanded. God responds to faith and Righteousness.
My dear friend… you can continue to believe the lies from the devil or you can believe God who made the devil.
You can do it! Turn from being that lone island. From keeping secrets from others about what your struggling with. Turn off the fear of men and stand up with God and shout Hallelujah! Your Victory is in Christ.
With love for your life
